Elements of a Website
Three things to consider when building a website:
- Design - "What is your website going to look like?"
Website design is the framework or general layout of your website including navigation structure. We call this the “skin” of you website. Not to be confused with content, the design or skin does not include graphics or pictures that enhance the look of the site. The design or skin defines the framework in which content is added.
- Content - "What is your website going to say?"
Content includes copy, press releases, product data, images, pictures, other graphics, documents, etc. For most website projects, we recommend that the client be responsible for the initial preparation of content. This reduces cost and ensures your message is delivered accurately.
For future editing, our websites give the client complete and total control over all of the content displayed in the website through a non-technical, web-based control panel.
- Functionality - "What is your website going to do?"
The functionality of your website should drive your target audience to follow your website and act as you desire. Functionality can be split into many general categories including content management, ecommerce, directories, navigation management, marketing tools, third party software integration tools, etc. We offer a wide variety of software modules to accomplish your website functionality needs. We can also build software applications from scratch if necessary.
